got bad to do

Phone calls and hang-ups and step toe and son re-runs.
rustling sheets lovely sandwiches and jackets as presents.
ripped-tights, made-teas, passive-aggressive arguments.
jokes. everywhere, museums new-books, cuddle, television
show-her-off parties shrugs roll-off the tongue insults
lots of drink being sick pale people warm-up breakfasts
eggs, bacon, mushrooms loving looks between menus
promises from eye contact that have one rush to the flat
stroked arms, resting heads denim daisy dukes removed
stretched stomachs in flips, smiles no longer reserved
old streets walked on spent in awe- but one's too fast
press-ups towards late-night runs to more aspirations
cold-shoulders no eye contact new looks no respect given
moonlit bodies slide with anger, train seats stare into space
inspiring work inspired from smiles laughing at them
all men that try to be something they're not, what we'll never be
no answers too scared to ask questions too proud for pain
far away looking back at yesterday try to find out what it meant
replay every event wanting another body that's heaven sent
golden green olive kisses mismatched lovers circumstances
deal the blows take the pain, we eventually stand all the same
and if i had the choice yes i'd do it all again.

Come through (be true)

"That's nice"
leaving a once living room, blue shadow of what looks like a lie
the window was a magnifying glass and in the lens
was a truth i did not want to see but it was too big to avoid
I love the feeling of a dreamcast controller.
"Okay, I'll be watching Seinfeld"
the door was a door, but closing it was like a double door
y'know like some sorta metaphor
I've always wanted a dennis bergkamp arsenal shirt
That rustle of tightened bedsheets was louder than a plane
taking off, on a run way, convenient comparison.
I'll always want that shirt
One day I'll be more.

realway

it was a whole other problem
when i dealt with the long haired woman
never did i believe she'd become a baton
but sure enough, as we ran along
i passed her on.

The way you wear your heart

And something about the way you wear your heart

It makes me want to put paper to pen

While something inside me says I know I’ll never win

But god help me, he knows I’ll try and try again

Because every time I look into those eyes, I want to be more than just a friend

Though you can only depend,

On someone who can repent

And I have only a joke, no helping hand to lend

So for a carrier pigeon, better yet a dove, go send

For a man who knows how to love and not pretend

And I call you on no bluff, from here on in these words in your honour, end.

What to do what to do...

Promise the heavens you'll love her forever
But does forever end when she finds another?
watching his arm shield, protect and hook over
taking for granted that palm in his like you never
your neck wants to carry your head away but your feet
your feet cannot move because they know your
knees are weak. and you smile and nod because
it's impossible to speak, just a crackle and creek.

The love consumes all until it's all you are
Which means hiding a complete self when seeing her
hoping she can't tell it's putting you through hell
you're hiding that beautiful inner romantic
all these wonderful things and you can't tell her about it
because if you love someone, there's a need to see them happy
no matter how much it hurts you,
their pleasure makes the pain worth going through

Sometimes you wonder if you're just playing a martyr
other times you don't know if the pain can get pushed any further
and the rest of the time you pray to be stronger
so you can see her pretty face again.
Promise the heavens you'll love her forever
do you love her enough to never tell her?

la da-da-da-dee

all i've ever given
is all i've got
and all i've got
is not a whole lot
and if all you ever do
is do me wrong
well then just keep on
because im near done.
but if all i ever gave
was all you ever needed
know if you asked for more
you would have received it
and if all i ever do
is make you smile
know that making you smile
makes it all worthwhile
and if all i ever said
turns out to be wrong
well then just sing along
so i can stay strong
all i've ever given
is all i've got
and all i've got
is not a whole lot
and if all you ever do
is do me wrong
well then just keep on
because im near done.

friend, relate.

Threw away a fun friendship
For a serious relationship
Traded a meaningful courtship
For a one-night partnership
Lost a heart of gold
To a life of old
trapped the lost girl
for unrequited desires
but she was so pretty
and exposed all the liars
fixed such broken veins
for a release of pain
she sipped your life
in through a straw
left your emotions
on the other side of the door
you were meant to feel for more
instead walk through life
longing for the cold pain
the thin slice sliding across
red slowly pours and climbs
longing to be free, just like me,
i, a bit like you, threw away
a meaningful relationship
for a one night partnership
supported an indignant claim
(an excuse) for a life of fame
but now all i want
is....

i just, don't know anymore.
god help me. I'm so lost.

17

She’s one and seven
And if I was her age
She’d pay me no attention
But I can’t help but be drawn in
To her attraction

Her kicks her frills her body gives me chills her hair that flicks her ever round moonlight moon size eyes pulling me into- im oh man oh no it’s not the way to be for she is seventeen and I should know better than to kiss a teenage dream.

She’s one and seven
But I know she likes me
And I’ve been so lonesome lately
I can’t help but be open
To the attention given.

Playful hits on the head not working but following instead glances across that call for my stare let her know I -but no man that’s not, not no. For she is seventeen and I should know better than to embrace such heavenly grace.

She’s one and seven
So when she called me over
I was naturally hesitant
when she Stepped closer while talking clever
her infectious laugher crept in

The deadpan jokes laughing in delight dancing the night away drinking like a hooligan’s holiday but not caring about what anyone thinks anyway I- no, if i could i-but no. She is seventeen and is yet to learn things aren’t quite what they seem.

She’s one and seven
Though you wouldn’t think it
Her body, many men would kill for
And her personality, I do adore
She’s gaining my affection

When we talk we’re connecting, jokes and light strokes
and though I am her plus three if you looked at us it really wouldn’t be what you’d see and-no stop now. I swear to never touch her. It could never be for she is seventeen and she, she is in love with me.

man,

Don’t bother phoning boy
You know she wont call back
And even if she did boy
She’s not going to tell you what you want to hear
No, she’s not coming back round here
Relax those shoulders boy
You’ve done all you could do,
Move a mountain,
It won’t make her love you

Just, stop writing that poetry boy
Is she really worth it?
Put that pen down boy
Does she really deserve it?
Can you honestly say that your back is got
When you’re doing all you can just to get
Creative support?

Just, stop those tears boy
Don’t go crying on the train
You’ve been hit by pikies boy
You’ve taken bigger pain
Don’t you fall like the rain
Don’t you stand still again.
Hold on, be strong
Run faster than you ever have
This ache has gone on too long
You’ve already done more than you should ever have

So please
Pick yourself up boy
Release
Liberate
If you wait
The life of a fool
Will be your fate.
